Founded in 1979, CRY (Child Rights and You) is one of India's most trusted non-governmental organizations, headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Our mission is to ensure that every child, regardless of social or economic background, enjoys their fundamental rights to education, healthcare, protection from exploitation, and active participation in society.
With a network of over 200 projects across 19 states in India, CRY works at the grassroots level to create sustainable change. We believe in a holistic approach that involves communities, governments, and partners to build a child-friendly ecosystem. Our vision is a world where children are valued as individuals with rights, and where every child can dream, thrive, and achieve their full potential.
Over the decades, CRY has evolved from a welfare-based approach to a rights-based framework, advocating for systemic changes in policies and practices. Our efforts are aligned with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), which India ratified in 1992. We focus on critical areas such as child labor abolition, gender equality, nutrition security, and quality education for all.
The organization is driven by a commitment to transparency and accountability, with over 85% of donations directly benefiting children. Our team of dedicated professionals, volunteers, and partner NGOs works tirelessly to monitor progress, evaluate impact, and adapt strategies to emerging challenges like digital access and climate change.
Explore Our ProgramsCRY designs and implements comprehensive programs that address the multifaceted needs of children in India. Each initiative is tailored to local contexts and leverages community participation for lasting impact.
We work to eliminate barriers to education by building schools, training teachers, providing scholarships, and advocating for policy reforms. Our focus is on inclusive learning environments for girls, children with disabilities, and those from marginalized communities. We also run digital literacy programs to bridge the technology gap.
In the past year, we've enabled over 50,000 children to enroll in formal schools and supported 1,200 rural schools with infrastructure upgrades. Our community mobilization efforts have reduced dropout rates by 30% in project areas.

CRY ensures children have access to quality healthcare through mobile clinics, immunization drives, and nutrition programs. We address malnutrition by promoting sustainable agriculture and teaching families about balanced diets. Our maternal health initiatives reduce infant mortality and support prenatal care.
We've distributed over 500,000 nutrition kits and conducted health camps for 200,000 children in remote villages. Partnerships with local hospitals have improved access to specialized care for critical illnesses.
Support Health Initiatives
We combat child labor, trafficking, and abuse through legal aid, counseling, and community vigilance networks. CRY runs shelter homes, rehabilitation centers, and helplines to rescue and support vulnerable children. Advocacy efforts strengthen child protection laws and enforcement mechanisms.
Our interventions have rescued 3,000 children from hazardous work and provided psychosocial support to 10,000 survivors. We train police and social workers on child-sensitive procedures to ensure justice and care.
Join Protection EffortsEach program is monitored using a robust data collection system, ensuring measurable outcomes and continuous improvement. We collaborate with academic institutions for research and leverage technology for real-time monitoring.

Beyond numbers, our impact is seen in the smiles of children who now attend school regularly, in the health of newborns who survive their first year, and in the confidence of adolescents who lead community change. CRY's advocacy has influenced national policies like the Right to Education Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. We continuously evaluate our work through third-party audits and stakeholder feedback to ensure effectiveness and transparency.
Our financial stewardship ensures that 87% of every rupee donated goes directly to program activities, with only 8% for administrative costs and 5% for fundraising. This efficiency has earned us top ratings from independent assessors like Guidestar and Credibility Alliance.
CRY is powered by a diverse team of professionals, activists, and community leaders who bring expertise and passion to our mission.
